I decided to give college a shot, but let’s face it, I was bored out of my mind. All I really wanted was to work at a clothing store in the mall. I mean, who needs calculus when you can fold T-shirts, right? My best friend and I both applied for a job at this store called Vanity. I was dead set on getting that job because, come on, I practically had a PhD in shopping. I shopped so much that I even skipped a few classes to make sure I had the perfect outfit for a night out. Repeat an outfit? Absolutely not! Now, you might be wondering how a broke college student managed this fabulous lifestyle. Well, I’ll let you in on the secret: I became the proud owner of 8 shiny new credit cards. I remember thinking, “Wow, I can shop to my heart’s content and only pay $10 a month!” Ah, the naivety of youth. To this day, the mystery of why anyone would give 8 credit cards to a jobless college kid remains unsolved. My parents were definitely not impressed – to put it mildly!
