I must admit, I remember being in my 20s and thinking, “I’m always going to dress cute—no matter what my age is”! Back then, I thought when I’m in my 40s, I would still wear mini dresses, crop tops, short denim skirts, graphic T-shirts, etc. I thought being in your 40s and 50s meant succumbing to dress slacks, a conservative blouse, and some Naturalizers. Well, that time is here, and I’m definitely not wearing any of the above. Not saying you can’t—be free to wear what you want; however, my style has progressed as I’ve gotten older. I like to wear things that flatter my body and can go the distance. Fast fashion is not for me anymore. That doesn’t mean I’m spending a ton of money on my clothing or shoes; it means I’m more selective with what I’m purchasing. Whether that is a $25 T-shirt or a $100 T-shirt, it has to pair with at least five other items in my existing wardrobe. I don’t spend my money on pieces I’ll wear one time, for one event.

This is not specifically a capsule wardrobe; it’s a collection that continually evolves and provides an array of stylish options. By doing so, it eliminates that dreaded “I have nothing to wear” feeling. This is exactly why I invested in a wardrobe rack for my bedroom—it lets me effortlessly visualize how various pieces coordinate beautifully with one another.

To demonstrate how versatile these wardrobe options can be, I’ve chosen to showcase this chic pink vest and trousers I recently purchased from Zara. While some might assume this outfit has a single styling approach, I’m here to prove otherwise. Get ready for five stylish looks with the trousers and five stunning ensembles featuring the vest, effectively transforming this one outfit into 10 options.

Let’s kick things off with the pink trousers. Here are five must-have pieces that I already have in my wardrobe allowing me to create many different looks.

If you do not own a cropped denim jacket, you are missing out on many outfit options. This jacket pairs well with so many different pieces. I chose the cropped style due to the wide leg trousers. You want to stay away from a jacket that will make you look bulky. This look creates great proportion.

This sleeveless bodysuit for summer and long-sleeve bodysuit for cooler weather look perfect with the pink trousers. If I’m ever challenged with what to wear, I know a high-waisted trouser and bodysuit are always a winning combination. You can also layer the sleeveless option under the denim jacket or a blazer.

Double Lined Bodysuit

Or this one:

Long Sleeve Bodysuit

I’m always one to throw on a casual T-shirt with dressier pants. I’ve worn this shirt, my pink trousers, and leopard kitten heels recently – perfection🩷 I feature this T-shirt in a lot of my posts because it is so versatile! I own it in five different colors now! Wear it with dressy trousers, denim, yoga pants, leather, the options are endless. Add accessories to dress it up.

A classic white button up is a necessity in any wardrobe. There are endless styling options with this classic- including trousers, denim, leather pants or skirt, or layered under a jacket or vest.

Poplin Button Up

I wore this top with my trousers this week for work. I tucked it in and rolled the sleeves. I paired it with a couple strands of pearls and neutral kitten heels. Roll the sleeves to balance out the wide leg in the trousers.

How cute is this bow blouse with pink trousers! I love this top, and it can also be styled in many different ways! Wear with black denim, leather pants, black trousers, etc… Add these Sam Edelman bow heels to complete the look.

Now, let’s explore 5 ways to style the pink vest.

Love styling with my denim cropped trousers. If you are on the petite side, I suggest a straight leg crop version. I wore this outfit to my daughter’s dance performance recently. It’s still warm in Arizona, so I didn’t layer anything with it. Feel free to throw a fitted T underneath or a blazer ovet the top during cooler temps. These pink C. Paravano flats will make this outfit a head-turner!

Yes, I’m a 90s kid at heart, and wide-leg denim goes with everything! Wear a vest alone with denim in warmer temps, layer it with a white button-up untucked during cooler months. Make sure to roll the sleeves to create proper proportion with the wide leg. Throw on some white Sambas for a cool and casual look.

Wide Leg Denim

Ponte crop pants in black are a must for every wardrobe and my favorite comfortable pants. Ponte is stretchy, soft, and suitable for all body types. The buttons on the vest are black which ties this outfit together. Pair with the shoe of the Season- loafers for a cool business casual look. The pants also look great with a plain T shirt, blouse, or sweater.

Layer the pink vest under an Ivory blazer and throw on with your favorite denim for a chic look. I love my over-sized ivory blazer during Fall and Winter! This blazer can be worn with denim, leather pants, over a fitted dress, and many other ways. The pink flats would look stunning with this!

Blake Long Blazer

High-waisted black trousers are a classic option and an absolute necessity for every wardrobe. These are the perfect black trousers to compliment any body type, even for the petite ladies. I would pair this with the white T, the bow blouse, a black body-suit and the ivory blazer. I could dedicate one post to styling these black trousers.

High Waisted Black Trouser

This is the garment rack I purchased- game changer! It is much easier to create different looks when you can pull them onto a rack and place them next to each other. This fashion tip is from my previous career as a stylist.

Songmics Garment Rack
